FLIGHT ATTENDANT FACES CHARGES
ACCUSED OF BEING DRUNK ON PLANE
An Atlantic Southeast Airlines flight attendant was in court yesterday to face alcohol intoxication charges, one day after her arrest caused the flight she was working on to be canceled.
Sarah J. Mills, 26, did not have an attorney and appeared shocked when she heard the charges, which also included terroristic threatening. She also faces a civil review by the Federal Aviation Administration on charges of being a crew member of an airplane while drunk.
Kathleen Bergen, public affairs manager for the FAA's Southern region, said she could not be jailed on that charge but that the agency is reviewing the matter.
Mills was arrested shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday after a Blue Grass Airport police officer who boarded the plane to retrieve lost property said she appeared unstable on her feet. She allegedly threatened the captain, saying, "You are dead," according to the arrest report.
The officer said he smelled alcohol on Mills' breath, and she admitted she had been drinking Jack Daniel's while on the plane, the report said.
