tubby's doing a good job? um, no

Again from Doug Eades in Somerset. And I fully agree with him....again.

Is Tubby really doing a good job?
According to the American College Dictionary, the following is the definition of the word good - (1) Morally excellent; righteous; pious: a good man. (2) Satisfactory in quality, quantity, or degree; excellent.

According to that same dictionary, the following is the definition of the word job — (1) A piece of work; an individual piece of work done in the routine of one’s occupation or trade. (2) A piece of work of defined character undertaken for a fixed price....

You’ve done a good job at Kentucky, Tubby?

Are you kidding me?

Kentucky comes into tomorrow's SEC Tournament in Atlanta as the number four seed in the SEC East.

We're not even the number four seed in the conference, but we're a four seed in our own division in the SEC. Does that sound like a good job to you?

This is yet, another season of double digit losses - the fifth time that's happened in Tubby's 10 years at the helm.

Tubby has now lost to Florida six straight times.

Tubby has lost to Vandy four straight times.

Last year, if you included the 2-1 record in the SEC Tournament, along with this year's conference mark, Kentucky is 20-15 in its last 35 league games, headed into tomorrow's tourney against SEC opponents over the last two seasons.

Tubby, in 10 years on the UK bench, has 19 losses at Rupp Arena, for an average of right at two losses per season, in what is supposed to be the greatest home court advantage in all of America.

Kentucky, beginning tomorrow, for the first time in school history will be playing on the opening day of the SEC Tournament for the second year in a row.

This season, just in Kentucky's own division alone in the SEC East, the Cats only compiled a sub-par, 4-6 record. Kentucky was swept by Florida, swept by that juggernaut called Vandy, split with Tennessee and Georgia, and swept South Carolina.

Does that sound like a good job to you? Two games under .500 in your own division within the league is a good job?

Kentucky did not beat a ranked opponent this year during the regular season, again, another miserable record. (Louisville is indeed ranked now, but the Cards were unranked when Kentucky beat them back in mid-December.)

Again, let's go back to the last part of the definition of the word “job.”

The American College Dictionary defines it as, "A piece of work of defined character undertaken for a fixed price."

A fixed price. For over a cool million dollars per year, this is the kind of results the UK basketball program is getting on a regular basis.
