Our day started at the Bluegrass Airport, as yesterdays post shows. We got on a plane and headed south to Atlanta for our connecting flight to Ft. Lauderdale. The pic above is the view of the sunrise we had, somewhere around 30,000 feet above sea level. Kinda cool seeing the sun rise from above the clouds.
We got to Atlanta and had maybe an hour to kill, during which time we loaded on to the plane. Delta has a line of planes called Song, which have monitors and headphones for every seat throughout the plane. Very cool. You can choose from multiple TV channels, like ESPN, BET, Discovery, and the standard big 3 networks. You can also see your flight info, with a little plane superimposed over a map, to show where you are and how far you have to go. Or you can choose from a list of music to listen to, and make your own playlist. Mine included Marvin Gaye, Johnny Cash, Beastie Boys, Gwen Stefani, and some Prince. My playlist was considerably longer than the flight.
We hit Ft. Lauderdale and caught a cab to the Hard Rock. Checkin was easy, and service for the room has been excellent. The mini bar is electronically monitored, and NOT cheap. Other than that, the place is incredible. The room is huge, and we have a great view of the pool (see below). In our particular room there are two prints, one of the Beatles early in their career, and one of Mick Jagger onstage, mid-80's I'd guess. I'll pics to put up for tomorrow's post, of the hotel and the room. Yesterday was laying out by the pool, and wandering some, then retired to the room. Early morning, so we relaxed and watched some NBA.
Day 2 begins now.....
